Description
The Alpine iLX-107 has a very simple design, with only two buttons and the screen taking up the rest of the space. These buttons are used to activate Siri and return to the Alpine menu. The 7-inch VGA is especially bright, and even in direct sunshine, the screen remains viewable. Many automobile stereos have issues with touch input and utilizing their results in a perceptible lag.
Its four-channel amplifier is rated at 50 watts per channel for audio. It includes several wiring looms, one of which has line outputs for the four channels and two subwoofers. A reverse camera and an audio/video device are connected by another wiring braid. The microphone and the steering wheel controls are covered by the third. A recessed connection is also provided for the USB extension cord. You’ll need a quick setup with both your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on to use CarPlay. All that is required is for you to locate the Alpine iLX-107 in your Bluetooth settings and connect to it. Your phone will pair with your head unit after you hit “Enable wireless CarPlay.” After that, whenever you start your car and the unit powers up, your phone will connect. Normally, this takes 5-10 seconds.

CarPlay, as a platform, doesn’t truly add to your in-car iOS experience; it just improves it. CarPlay has a smooth feel to it, and apps are front and center. Some of these are even more impressive. The best example is the new IOS Maps app, which is brighter and bolder than before. The Alpine iLX-107’s user interface has been somewhat altered to include conventional plus and minus arrows.
