Alpine ILX-F409 Installation Manual and Owner’s Manual
Description
For vehicles with or without an outdated multimedia system, the manufacturer Alpine now offers an interesting retrofit solution. The Alpine ILX-F409 “Halo9” is suitable for the DIN slot in the dashboard and expands the vehicle with an extensive infotainment system with a 9-inch display. Thanks to a retractable monitor, the system can also be used in vehicles in which only a 1 DIN slot is available. The vehicle-specific frame may need to be purchased separately so that everything fits properly. After installation, Android phones and iPhones can be connected to the device via Bluetooth and conveniently operated via the nine-inch touchscreen via Android Auto or Apple Car Play.
After installing the Alpine ILX-F409, the 9-inch color touchscreen can be used in front of the dashboard. The screen is adjustable in height and can therefore be optimally adapted to the viewing angle. The system supports digital radio reception (DAB +) as well as normal FM and AM. As far as function goes the design really does offer compatibility with almost any car install. It only uses a single DIN slot, and both the height adjustments and the angle adjustments really offer something that most other systems cannot match. Once you find the height level that keeps this unit clear of your vents and control buttons for the ac/heat of your car you lock this down and it stays put. The angle tilt is also locked down and a nice option so you don’t get a ton of glare from the sun.
According to customers, the picture is good, although there are now devices with a much better screen resolution. The operation is described by customers as easy in the manual files. Individual settings are possible for the sound. The radio reception via VHF should work well. However, some customers have problems receiving digital channels via DAB +, even in spite of Alpine special antennas. Smartphones can be connected to the Halo9 via Bluetooth or a USB port. Then Android Auto or Apple Carplay can also be used on the touchscreen and music or navigation apps can be accessed. Google’s voice assistant and Siri are also available, but there is no support for the steering wheel buttons for activation. Devices can also be connected to the system for audio playback via AUX cables. In addition to smartphones, reversing cameras and HDMI devices can also be connected to the Alpine ILX-F409. Parking sensors or the air conditioning interface can also be addressed via a CAN bus connection.
